Evaluation session Volta Zero
Last week, Dirk had the chance to participate in the first evaluation and feedback session for the Volta Zero truck.
"I was able to drive the vehicle myself, and I personally saw that its development is quite advanced. It is incredible that they were able to develop such a fantastic vehicle in such a brief time.
The central position of the seat, the large windows and windscreen offer an incredible view of the truck’s surroundings. The central seat position also makes it easier to get in and out of the vehicle. Thanks to its sliding doors, the driver can get in and out on the kerb side rather than on the side of a busy road.
Multiple cameras provide a 360° view all around the truck. It also means that when entering a roundabout, there is no blind spot at all. The Volta Zero offers an ergonomic and safe working space for drivers, which will certainly help to attract new drivers.
Due to its electric drive, the Volta Zero requires 90% fewer mechanical parts. Therefore, it has a lower total cost of ownership than any equivalent vehicle equipped with a combustion engine. As a result, its durability and cost-effectiveness go hand in hand, giving us even more incentive to switch to electric vehicles.
Volta is also working on developing a service network.
If all goes according to plan, we will receive our delivery of the first Volta Zero at VPD in February next year. "However, I am not sure whether I'll entrust it to a driver... I really want to drive it myself first," Dirk jokes.
